After watching Lee perform with Studio 19, he knew he had found his drummer. He insisted Lee depart from Studio 19, and together they established the beginning of Mötley Crüe.
Guitarist Mick Mars soon joined the newly formed band, and Lee recommended Vince Neil, a singer he knew from high school, to round out the new band. Mötley Crüe's debut album, Too Fast for Love (1981), Elektra Records signed Mötley Crüe and re-released Too Fast for Love in 1982. This band released a series of hit songs throughout the decade, this series includes Shout at the Devil (1983), Theatre of Pain (1985), Girls, Girls, Girls (1987), and Dr. Feelgood (1989).
